Throughout the years, the Blessed Virgin has been the inspiration for the
students of Assumption. The very name of Assumption College School com-
memorates the acceptance of the Blessed Virgin in heaven.

Yet the most important point is that the Mother of our Lord has given to
us guidance, consolation and a banner around which we gather. Mary, our
patroness has been sought many, many times for advice in studies, school
and personal problems, Mary has been the consolation of the Men of Assump-
tion in grief and sorrow. Mainly though, the Blessed Virgin has given to us
a sense of unity, brotherhood and community. Perhaps that is the key of
Assumption Spirit. We exclaim this aloud when we sing the Alma Mater,
With this in mind we express our gratitude for the inspiration which Mary has
offered us always remembering, “Mary's men we'll ever be, "

OUR PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Men of Assumption;

The advances of Science and Technology during
the past decade have made the world of today one
where human values are threatened with extinction.

Man is losing the sense of dignity and sacredness
which he possessed when he was master of the forces
of nature and used them to provide for his simple
needs.

Unless there are strong individuals who can art-
iculate meaning in the sensual, senseless and soulless
atmosphere which pervades society, we are doomed,

Only those who are intelligently imbued with a

sense of moral values and a realization of the divine
origin and destiny of man can provide an answer
which will satisfy the human spirit.

Catholic High Schools, like Assumption, which
have high academic standards and which present a
mature appreciation of the knowledge of God and
the dignity of man. . . exist for the sole purpose of
bringing you. . .Goodness, Discipline, and Know-

ledge,

Fr. Matthew Sheedy, C.S.B.

Better ideas count only if you are first. The selectivity tower pictured at Ford of
Canada’s new St. Thomas passenger car assembly plant is an example. It adds a
new profile to the skyline of the Canadian automotive industry. Twelve storeys high,
it stacks car bodies for immediate use when required on the final assembly line. It is
a better idea—the kind that helps ensu re better products.

How to say

“Chrysler”
in 2,790
languages.

Believe it or not, that is how many languages
there are in the world. And this symbol
means Chrysler in all of them. It’s a Pentastar,
worldwide hallmark of Chrysler. It’s found
in over 130 countries throughout the
world ... wherever our products are
manufactured, sold or serviced.

Pentastar — mark of Chrysler quality.
